Careers Guidance in the 3rd - 4th Years
There is a structured careers education programme for all girls in the 3rd and 4th years. The emphasis is on exploring a broad spectrum of occupations, developing decision-making skills and applying these to subject choices.
At the end of the 3rd year each girl chooses her GCSE subjects in consultation with her parents, teaching staff, form tutors and careers staff.
The 4th year continues with decision-making skills, but this broadens into looking at the role of women at work, challenging stereotypical views and exploring a wide range of occupations.
In Personal and Social Education the girls are given guidance on self-evaluation to enable them to determine their strengths and interests.
During both years the girls are given information on specific careers and types of university courses. Towards the end of the 4th year preliminary guidance is given on choosing A-levels and preparing for Higher Education.
