Careers Guidance in the 3rd - 4th Years
There is a structured careers education programme for all girls in the 3rd and 4th years. The emphasis is on exploring a broad spectrum of occupations, developing decision-making skills and applying these to subject choices.
Work Experience
By the start of the Lower Sixth each pupil is encouraged to organise at least one period of supervised activity in the world of work. This is a major commitment on behalf of the employer, but there are enormous benefits to the pupil and ultimately to all employers. The school has a database of suitable contacts in the UK and abroad, to which parents and former pupils are encouraged to contribute.
Careers Guidance in the 5th Year
Most of the 5th year take a 3-hour bank of psychometric tests, together with an associated interest questionnaire run by ISCO. The resulting report and follow-up interview give valuable pointers to career aptitudes and help with A-level choices.
