HISTORY OF ART

Head of Department: Mr I Charnock

Which syllabus do we study? AQA Syllabus 5251 (AS) 6251 (A2)

History of Art is the study of painting, sculpture and architecture – the Fine Arts – in a set period, analysing the responses of various artists to different problems, stimuli and ideas.  It unlocks whole areas of philosophy, ideas and the imagination and stimulates the student to argue, be original in thought and articulate in expression.  Also it means spending a great deal of time looking at some of the most beautiful, inspiring images created by Man, it is very enjoyable and can lead to a lifelong fascination.   Students will have the opportunity to visit Florence or Paris.
