What is Friends of St George's?

The parents' committee is known as the Friends of St George's. Its aim is to promote and organise social and fund-raising events and to act as an informal liaison between the parents and the teaching staff. The funds are for extra non-essential facilities for the girls and the school.

Membership is open to parents with daughters at the school and ideally comprises of two or three parent representatives from each academic year. The Headmistress, two members of the teaching staff and the Bursar are also invited to attend.

Items funded recently by the Friends include: 'Inspiration' software, several pieces of equipment for the fitness suite, altar pews, PA microphone, chalice, choir stalls, a slide projector, a grand piano, curtains, various computer items, satellite receivers for the language departments, a digital video camera, bean bag sofas and up-lights for the common rooms.

Every year the Committee is present to meet new parents at tea on Freshers' Day and a drinks reception is hosted for all new parents and their daughters at the end of the Autumn Half Term.
