Aspiring young actress, Manpreet Bambra (Class of 2011) will be playing a lead role in a new 'gritty' teenage drama due to be aired on CBBC on Tuesday 6 December.

Manpreet will be appearing in Postcode, written by Tony Merchant, which follows the life of teenagers living in a South London estate.  She plays a 14-year-old called Sheela who runs a shop for her parents.

Manpreet, now 19, who lives in Bray, described life for the characters in the three-part drama, which is due to air from 5.45pm, as very different from hers in the village.

"It's based in an area where there are gangs, crime and a diverse mix of ethnicities and classes living very close together," she said.

"It follows the lives of a group of teenagers and shows how they can overcome their differences to become friends.

"She (the character) is very different to me, she's very outgoing where as I'm quite shy. I had to make myself cry in some points, and it all had to be filmed in three weeks. It was very intense but I loved it."

Congartulations to Manpreet on securing a leading role so early on in her career.  Do make sure that you tune in, or watch it on the BBC iPlayer.
