ICT FACILITIES

The Network

St George's has been fully networked in all teaching and boarding areas since September 2000 including wireless access throughout the school for pupils' laptops.  We have a full-time Network Manager to maintain the school system and provide technical help with any personal laptop. The use of ICT in all areas of the curriculum is expanding fast and subject departments now find that ICT is a vital tool in their delivery of the curriculum.

E-mail and Internet

Filtered broadband access to the internet is universally available from all school & personal computers.
Everyone has an individual e-mail address, and wide use of the internet and e-mail is made by pupils and staff.
St George's also runs Citrix Metaframe servers giving girls complete access to all their school work & network facilities from their personal laptops in school or from anywhere in the world with internet access.

ICT Rooms

There are two dedicated ICT rooms, each with 18 workstations, data projectors, colour & mono networked printers. When not timetabled for the teaching of ICT skills and keyboarding, these rooms are booked by other academic departments. In the Sue Cormack Hall a further ICT room with 14 workstations is also available

Every classroom has at least one workstation, many have several workstations. The majority also have data projectors and an interactive  'Smart' Board or its equivalent.  The Science Laboratories each have three workstations, a projector and a networked colour laser printer as does the main Geography teaching room.
