HOUSES
When you join St George’s you also join a House. This is not a House that you live in but one that you join for inter-house competitions and matches. Being a part of a House is a wonderful source of fun, competition, achievement and teamwork. Every girl is given the opportunity to represent their House in an activity they excel in or enjoy. Your House will add to your sense of belonging and allow the ethos of the school to be translated into action.
The
four houses are: There are a number of House competitions throughout the year. Sporting competitions are organised by the PE Department and include Lacrosse, Netball, Tennis and Swimming. This all culminates at the end of the year in Inter House Sports Day. During the term you will have an opportunity to earn Sports Mark for your House. The House with the most marks is awarded the Sports Marks Shield at Autumn and Christmas Awards as well as at prize giving at the end of the year. The Work Shield is awarded each term to the House with the highest number of Work Stars. You can earn Work Stars for your House, for very good pieces of work and making a particularly good effort in lessons. You will also have a chance to show off your talents in House Drama, Declamation, Music and General Knowledge competitions. A highlight of the year is the House Party, when all the girls and their parents come to school for dinner. This is followed by an evening of entertainment that is put on by all the girls in the House.
