Boarding at St George's
Boarding has many benefits, including having more time to concentrate on prep work without the added time and stress of a daily commute; experiencing the many fun activities and entertainment on offer in the school community; becoming more independent and self-sufficient, and most importantly, learning to live with, get on with and respect other people.
Boarding Houses
A lot of time and effort has been spent ensuring that our boarding housing is homely and comfortable.
Boarding FAQs
Where will I live?
All the boarders at St George's live in Year Groups - this means that all the First Years live together in one area under the care of the Markham Housemistress, Mrs Hetherington.
Weekends and Exeats
Every Term at St George's there is a Half Term holiday and there are two Exeat Weekends. Exeat Weekends are when everyone goes home from 4.30pm on Friday until 8.30pm on Sunday. The Half Term holiday is usually a week - two weeks in the Autumn Term. The dates for Half Term and the Exeats are published in the School Calendar.
The Penthouse experience
Upper Sixth boarders have an opportunity to experience student living by moving into 'The Penthouse', a self-contained two bedroom flat.
