Training for Student Life
We give our girls increasing independence and freedom, but also introduce a sense of responsibility as they progress through Sixth Form, so that they are equipped and ready to face the challenges that university life will bring. This includes supervision and mentoring of younger girls and common room duties, but also giving priviliges, such as non-uniform, extra open weekends and evenings out.
University of William and Mary, Virginia, USA
We are also very fortunate at St George's to be able to offer trips to the University of William and Mary in Virginia, with whom we have established links.
Our link with America's second oldest university gives our girls an opportunity to spend a week as a student there during October half term. Students attend classes and seminars, use the amazing Swem Library and are able to socialise with the students.
We have online access to the university library for the rest of the academic year, which has proved very useful for EPQ research.
The trip is offered first to A-level History students but others are welcome, especially if contemplating applying to American universities.
We also offer a taste of "student living" in our Penthouse Suite.
