Careers Advice in the Sixth Form

Careers Adviser: Mrs M Welsh

In the Sixth Form the main focus is on Higher Education. A great deal of group and individual guidance is given towards making decisions about careers and Higher Education.

University Applications

A meeting is held for parents, to give them up-to-date information and advice about applications through UCAS (universities and Colleges Admission Service). St George's participates in the Centigrade scheme run through UCAS and COA (Cambridge Occupational Analysts) as an aid to choosing courses.

The girls are given help with every stage of their UCAS applications, including mock interviews. Additional classes and preparation are given to Oxbridge applicants, and to girls applying to read medicine.

Careers Convention

This annual event is held in the final week of the summer term and aims to cover as many career areas as possible. Sixth-formers choose which talks or workshops they would like to attend.
