Director of Drama

Required for September 2024

A passionate and forward thinking Director of Drama to provide leadership and inspiration for a flagship discipline at St George’s, providing excellent teaching in the curriculum as well as a range of performance opportunities across the School as part of the co-curricular provision.

The Department’s teaching staff (the Head of Department, a part-time Teacher of Drama and the Director in Residence) are housed within an impressive, modern multi-purpose theatre/hall which offers facilities for large scale functions for the whole School.  As well as the main performance hall and foyers, which are used by the whole school community, there is also a large Drama Studio, a Green Room, and two designated Drama teaching rooms. 

The successful candidate should hold an undergraduate degree in Drama or a closely-related discipline, be a qualified teacher (holding QTS or its equivalent) or have equivalent experience and have a record of outstanding classroom teaching of Drama at GCSE and A Level.

This is a full time teaching post and given the nature of the position, there is a need for some flexibility.  There will be a requirement to attend routine teaching events such as parents’ evenings, teaching staff meetings, staff training days preceding each term, and Open Days and Educational Days (as notified) as well as the evening and weekend rehearsals and performances.

 St George’s Ascot operates its own generous salary scheme and all teaching staff will be auto enrolled in the APTIS pension scheme unless they opt out.

Teacher of English

Required for September 2024

A forward thinking and passionate teacher to provide inspirational teaching of English in the curriculum and as part of the co-curricular provision, with a real desire to motivate pupils of all abilities.

The successful candidate should should be a qualified teacher (holding QTS or its equivalent) or have equivalent experience and hold an undergraduate degree in English or a closely related discipline. Applications from ECTs are welcome.

Teacher of PE or Sports Coach

We have a single vacancy for a Teacher of PE (with Football Specialism) OR a Sports Coach to start at the beginning of the Autumn Term (September 2024).

The School has exciting plans for its football provision. Whilst there is already great enthusiasm for the sport, we are looking for an inspirational and proficient Teacher of PE OR a Sports Coach to further lead the development of the game as one of the School's most significant sporting activities. The successful candidate should be confident in teaching and officiating football with the capacity to take on the leadership and development of the sport within the School. The successful candidate will also support the inspirational teaching and coaching of Physical Education in the curriculum.

The appointed candidate should hold an undergraduate degree in Physical Education or Sports Science (or a closely related discipline) or have experience in delivering an effective sports programme in a school context. Applications from NQT's are welcome.

This is a SINGLEfull-time post for the academic year and the successful candidate will be appointed on a Fixed Term Contract. 

The post involves supporting after school fixtures and working on Saturdays (some time off during the working week is provided, proportionally, in lieu of the Saturday commitment). There will be a requirement to attend routine teaching events such as parents’ evenings, teaching staff meetings, staff training days preceding each term, and Open Days and Educational Days (as notified).

St George's operates its own generous salary scheme and all teaching staff are auto-enrolled into the APTIS Pension Scheme unless they opt out. Non -qualified teaching members of School staff are enrolled into The Pensions Trust.

Director of Admissions

We have an opening for an enthusiastic and dynamic full-time Director of Admissions to start as soon as possible.

This is a high profile position at the School and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a strong performing Admissions department consisting of two other members of staff. This is a role with considerable variety and is enhanced with some overseas travel and a range of benefits as outlined in the Job Application Pack.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be flexible in approach, remain calm under pressure and possess the ability to effectively juggle a range of tasks and competing priorities, using initiative appropriately. 

This is a full-time position throughout the year and the normal hours of work are 8.30am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break).

Head of Philanthropy

We have an opening for a Head of Philanthropy to start as soon as possible.

This is an exciting position which will afford the successful candidate the opportunity to develop philanthropy at St George's. Reporting to the Head, the Head of Philanthropy will work proactively to establish, secure and develop relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be required to manage and develop a portfolio of high-level funders (both from the UK and international), securing philanthropic donations. 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a track record of securing, administering and stewarding significant gifts from donors as well as experience of fundraising/income generation within the charitable sector. Ideally, the successful candidate will be qualified in Fundraising and a member of the Institute of Fundraising.

For the right candidate, the School is willing to show considerable flexibility. Indicatively the successful candidate’s work will focus on term times, for example working term time plus 2 weeks over the year for 37.5 hour week. We would consider reducing or expanding this requirement potentially to 52 weeks of full time employment. 

The appointment will initially be for a fixed term of 12 months but this is expected to transition to a permanent position subject to progress.

Part-time Minibus Driver (Mornings only, term-time only)

Required to start as soon as possible, a reliable and flexible Part-time Minibus Driver to join our friendly team of Drivers, working mornings only during the School's published term times. 

This is a term time only position and the normal hours of work are:

5.30am to 8.15am (approximately) - Monday to Friday, Term-time only

Other duties may include ad hoc trips for School (possibly all day), service, maintenance and valeting for the fleet.

The required competencies to meet insurance and licence requirements are:

  • Aged 21 or over to comply with insurance requirements;
  • 'Clean' full driving licence;
  • Minimum of two years driving experience;
  • D1 qualified (Driving Licences awarded on or after 1 January 1997, will need D1 entitlement).

The illustrative pay rate is equivalent to £15.68 per hour, which includes 5.6 weeks of holiday pay. (Holiday pay is calculated at an average of weeks worked and is paid in August). The actual hourly rate is £13.99 per hour. The successful candidate will be auto-enrolled into the School’s Pension scheme if eligible.
