We have three boarding houses at St George’s. Each house has its own unique character.
Markham House (Year 7 - Year 11)
Markham House is home for our Year 7 - Year 11 boarders and is part of the original house.
The rooms are bright, spacious and airy with a very homely feel. Girls are welcome to bring their own things from home, which makes every room feel personal and comfortable.
Year 7 and Year 8 girls share one floor with between two and eight girls sharing a room. It's a lively and happy environment with plenty of friends around to enjoy games and activities with or just to relax and catch-up. The girls have a shared common room, kitchen and bathrooms.
Year 9 and Year 10 girls have their own common rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Year 9 girls share their room with three or four other girls. Year 10 and 11 girls, share with one other girl and have their own desk, giving them space to study in their room.
Each term we like the girls to move rooms so that they can enjoy getting to know new friends, although they are welcome to request particular room mates.
There is a lovely sense of community in Markham House. The girls enjoy a relaxed and friendly environment, they enjoy a wide range of after school and in-house activities, go on weekend adventures and all catch up together at the weekly House meeting.
Our focus is always to ensure that every girl is happy and supported, that they can feel relaxed as part of one big family. It's an inclusive and caring environment where every girls feels valued and connected her housemates, home and the wider community.
Loveday House (Sixth Form)
Loveday House is where our Sixth Form girls live. Every girl has her own bedroom with privacy to study and relax. Offering the perfect balance of independence, support and community.
With their own bedrooms and dedicated social spaces, pupils enjoy a more independent lifestyle while continuing to benefit from exceptional pastoral care and guidance. Whether preparing university applications, exploring future pathways through our SGA Futures programme or studying for A Levels and the EPQ, pupils are supported every step of the way.
The vibrant common room and kitchen create a welcoming home-from-home environment, while access to the school's facilities allows pupils to make the most of life beyond the classroom.
Many Sixth Form pupils choose boarding through our flexible SGA Stays programme, with full, weekly and flexi options available to fit around busy family life, study commitments and co-curricular activities.
Loveday House is a place where pupils build confidence, develop independence and create friendships that last long after they leave St George's.
