Our Senior Drama Scholars and Drama A Level pupils experienced an extraordinary opportunity to engage in an exclusive masterclass and performance workshop led by the celebrated, award-winning actor Gerard Logan. Renowned for his captivating stage presence and profound understanding of classical theatre, Gerard delivered a powerful session that left a lasting impression on all who participated.
In this immersive masterclass, Gerard guided our pupils through the complexities of Shakespeare’s works, helping them unlock the secrets behind the language, explore the nuances of character and develop the confidence to perform with authenticity. His dynamic teaching style created an environment that was both engaging and empowering, encouraging each girl to step boldly beyond their comfort zone.
The feedback from our pupils speaks volumes about the impact of the experience. Descriptions of the session ranged from “exciting, inspirational and fascinating” to “fun, active and memorable. The girls felt they were challenged to deliver more, yet also “confident, happy and proud” of what they achieved and learned in the session. One particularly poignant comment was that Gerard made each participant feel “heard.”
The day culminated in a spellbinding solo evening performance by Gerard in our Sue Cormack Hall Theatre. His masterful storytelling brought to life two chilling ghost stories by celebrated authors M.R. James and E.F. Benson. With every word and gesture, Gerard transported the audience into a world of suspense and intrigue, captivating everyone from start to finish. It was a performance that will be remembered not only for its dramatic brilliance but also for the remarkable way in which Gerard commanded the stage with presence and poise.
This unforgettable day provided our Drama Scholars with invaluable lessons in performance and self-expression. Gerard Logan’s exceptional ability to inspire, challenge and connect with young performers has left an indelible mark, motivating the girls to approach their creative pursuits with renewed passion and confidence. We are incredibly grateful for Gerard’s visit and the unforgettable experiences he shared with us, made possible by a generous donation from some of our parents.
