St George’s has ten school Governors who sit on three boards: the full board, the finance and marketing sub-committee and the education sub-committee. The role of the Governors is to bring outside skills to an educational setting, offer support and strategic advice to the Senior Management Team and help shape the future strategy of the school.

Alistair joined Actis, a specialist Emerging Markets private equity firm, in 2004, as Chief Investment Officer. He chairs the Investment Committee and Portfolio Review Committee of the Actis Private Equity, Energy and Real Estate funds. Alistair has been in private equity for over 25 years, first at 3i and then at PPM Capital, the private equity business of Prudential plc. Alistair holds an MBA from Cass Business School and a BSc in Engineering Science from the University of Aberdeen.
Edward Luker was involved in the property industry for forty years with specialist interest in commercial property development, investment and finance. He was Executive Director of CB Richard Ellis as Head of Investment and subsequently became Chairman of Financial Services. Responsible for some of the country’s major shopping centres, Edward has managed the development of office blocks and created major institutional property investment portfolios. Qualification FRICS. He has been leading the development and fundraising campaign for St George’s.
Gerald Barber was educated at Eton College and St Edmund Hall in Oxford. He taught at Papplewick School, Heatherdown School and Mowden School and was Headmaster at Ludgrove School from 1973-2008. Now retired, Gerald is Governor of St George’s School, Bradfield College, Holme Grange and a local councillor for Frilsham. He is trustee of the Eton Fives Charitable Trust and the Berkshire Gold Club and a member of the MCC. Gerald enjoys all sports, especially cricket and golf and is a member of the Berkshire Golf Club where he was Captain in 2006. He is also a member of the Pangbourne Choral Society and enjoys gardening.
Deirdre Brown was a former Georgian (1977-1984) and also a former parent. She worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and spent over half her career working overseas in Thailand and Hungary and is currently based in Paris at the UK Delegation to the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. Deirdre has particular interest in the pastoral and boarding aspects of life at St George's and ensuring that those girls whose parents are overseas, and those parents who leave their daughters in St George's care, get all the support they need.
Peter is a retired coy director with a wealth of experience in managing SMEs. Actively involved with St George’s since 1997, Peter’s three daughters were pupils at the school and Peter also served on the Parents Association for seven years as Deputy Chairman. Peter has been a Governor since 2004 and Chairman of the Finance and Marketing Committee for eight years. In his spare time, he is also the area Poppy Appeal Organiser, local church PCC member as Gift Aid Secretary and a Trustee and Treasurer of a local charity and Chairs the Marketing Committee at St George’s.
Anna, studied communications, semantics and linguistics at the University of Aix-en-Provence and has two degrees in psychology. She has run her own highly successful communications consultancy for over twenty years and works with clients across all industrial, commercial and professional sectors training them for all forms of strategic communication including market strategy, crisis response and rebranding, has developed a competitive pitch methodology enabling many leading banks and law firms to win mandates and climb the league tables. She brings this experience to help prepare Oxbridge candidates for their university interviews at St George’s.
Ruth is also a Georgian alumnae (1994-2000). She studied Architectural Studies at Newcastle University where she gained a BA (Hons), BArch (Hons) and Diploma of Architectural Practice RIBA and was elected to the Royal Institute of British Architects and Architects Registration Board in 2009. Ruth currently works for CSL Architects as an Associate Partner, a small architectural practise based in Eton and specialising in high end residential, commercial and the education sectors. She is currently studying to join the Association of Project Managers and her expertise has been extremely helpful with the building of the new library at St George’s.
Andrew Miles has been teaching at Eton for sixteen years. During this time he has been Head of Chemistry and a Head of Year and is currently a Housemaster. Andrew previously taught at Hillcrest Secondary School in Nairobi and The King’s School, Canterbury. He completed his degree and PGCE at Durham University. He is married to Charity and has two children. Andrew chairs the Education Committee at St George’s.
Paul spent over 25 years of his career with some of the leading global investment banks in the City of London. During that time Paul was responsible for portfolio and risk management. In 2011, Paul left the city to establish Frank Investments, a company focussed on preserving family assets.
In addition Paul was appointed Governor of the Queen Elizabeth Foundation for the disabled. Paul sits on the St Georges Executive and Finance committee bringing years of experience in finance. He chairs the Finance and Marketing Committee at St George’s.
Amanda Triccas is Senior Teacher at The Godolphin and Latymer School, west London, responsible for staff development and welfare. She is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead. She has a BA Hons (First Class) in Medieval and Modern History and MA in European Labour History, both awarded by the University of London. She is currently a member of the Girls’ Schools Association Professional Development committee. Previously she was senior deputy head at Francis Holland School (Regent’s Park) and before that was Assistant Deputy Head at St Paul’s Girls’ School where she taught for 14 years.
James Gibbons has taught at Eton College since 2002 in the Modern Languages and History departments. He is currently a Senior House Master, (appointed 2010), a member of Eton’s Academic Development Committee and Master in Charge of the School Canteen. In 2005 he was commissioned by Cambridge International Examinations to design the Modern Languages Pre-U Examination and he has wide examining experience. Before working at Eton, he lectured in German at Worcester and Pembroke Colleges, Oxford University, taking the post of Sub Dean at Worcester, where he completed his Doctorate in German Literature. He also taught at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith and L’Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan, Paris. James is married to Rachel and they have two children.
Katie Trueman Alexander is a Georgian Alumnae (2000 – 2006). Katie began her career at Christie’s working in the Estate’s, Appraisals and Valuations team before moving to hold global roles within the Post-War & Contemporary and Private & Iconic departments. Today, she runs an international art advisory company based between London, New York and Palm Beach and specialises in curating art collections and maximising their potential. Katie holds a BA in History from Exeter and a MLitt in History of Art and Art Business from Christie’s Education. Katie is a Founding Member of the V&A Young Patrons Programme and Committee Member for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.
