On 3 October, we were delighted to welcome alumna Sara Hale back to St George’s as part of our SGA Futures programme. A member of the Class of 2007, Sara studied A Levels including: Economics, English Literature and Biology before going on to study Psychology at Richmond American University London.

Now a Play Therapist, Sara helps children and young people work through challenging life experiences and complex emotions through the medium of play.

Sara joined us as the guest speaker for one of our Careers Lunches, attended by pupils interested in psychology and its many career pathways. The session was also joined by Mrs Shingles, Head of Psychology, and Mr Wright, Deputy Head Co-Curricular.

The girls had lots of thoughtful questions for Sara, from what first inspired her interest in psychology, to how she explored different specialisms before choosing play therapy, and what her day-to-day work involves.

“It was wonderful to welcome Sara back to St George’s and to see how she’s used her passion for psychology to make such a positive difference to young people’s lives, her talk gave the girls a real insight into how psychology can be applied in meaningful, hands-on ways.”

Mrs Shingles

The discussion offered a fantastic insight into the breadth of opportunities available through studying psychology, showing just how versatile and rewarding the subject can be.

We are so grateful to Sara for giving her time and sharing her experience and for inspiring the next generation of Georgians to pursue their passions with confidence.
