Today it was announced that we are creating a new through school by joining with St George’s School Windsor Castle and supported by St Albans Education Group (STAEG). St George’s School Windsor Castle is an award-winning day and boarding prep school and home to the choristers of St George’s Chapel. The new co-educational school - St George’s School, Windsor and Ascot - will offer a seamless educational journey from ages 3 to 18 with access to excellent facilities across the schools’ existing two sites.

Beyond our shared name, we have a great deal in common with St George’s School Windsor Castle. We both have long and proud histories, strong academic and co-curricular traditions, particularly in music and the creative arts, and offer a range of boarding options that reflect the needs of modern families. Just as importantly, our ethos, values and vision align and there is a real sense of shared purpose between the two schools.

As part of creating a through school, we will begin to welcome boys to Years 7 and 9 at St George’s Ascot from September 2027. Moving gradually to a co-educational model will enrich the experience of every pupil while preserving the traditions of excellence that have been the cornerstone of our success. By welcoming both girls and boys, we will broaden perspectives in the classroom and create even more opportunities for collaboration, leadership, and personal development.

This represents an important step, one within the school's long tradition of evolution. Since its foundation in 1877, St George's has adapted over time while remaining true to its core purpose – broadening access while strengthening what we offer.

We are excited about working with Emma Károlyi, Head at St George’s School Windsor Castle, both schools’ governors and STAEG to build something unique and ambitious. We will unite our strengths, histories and values to create an institution of immense educational value, attracting pupils from our local community as well as internationally.

This is a landmark moment for St George’s Ascot.

As we approach our 150th anniversary, creating a through school and welcoming boys from 2027 allows us to build on our strengths while opening an exciting new chapter.

Our partnership with St George’s School Windsor Castle creates a seamless education for 3 to 18 year olds and brings together two proud heritages to deliver something genuinely distinctive, ambitious, values-led and with real impact both locally and internationally.

Hannah Fox, Head of St George’s Ascot

Bringing Windsor and Ascot together creates a genuinely exciting opportunity to build a seamless, high-quality education for girls and boys from early years through to sixth form, while strengthening what already makes both schools so special.
