St George's School, Ascot, is delighted to announce that its U14 netball team secured victory at the Berkshire Schools County Netball Championship, held on Saturday 7 October at Theale Green School. This accomplishment marks a significant milestone for the school and reflects the growing popularity of netball among its students, supported by excellent coaching and enthusiasm from staff.

In an outstanding display of talent and teamwork, St George's School emerged as the champions of the tournament, following a seven match round-robin tournament.

Sophie Appleby, Director of Sport, comments:  “I am delighted that the passion and hard work of our pupils has been recognised by this accomplishment. Throughout the day, each player made valuable contributions to the team and were adaptive to situations they faced on court”.

"Winning the Berkshire County Netball Championship is a tremendous achievement for our school. It reflects the hard work and passion of our netball players," said Liz Hewer, Head. "We have been working towards this goal and it has only become a reality thanks to the dedication of our coaching staff and the talent of our girls."

Additionally, St George's School is proud to acknowledge that its U19 netball team achieved a commendable 4th place in the County Championship based on goal difference. The competition was highly competitive, with very little separating the top teams—Wellington, Bradfield, The Marist, and St George's. Only two teams could advance to the regionals, making St. George's School's performance so commendable.

These accomplishments reflect the school's commitment to fostering both academic and athletic excellence among its students, and to providing a well-rounded education that nurtures talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

St George's has been a hub for various netball events, hosting activities such as Royals training sessions, Berkshire League matches, the Charters League, and - most recently - is home to Surrey Storm’s East Berkshire Aspire Hub. This has created an environment that encourages excellence in netball and other sports.
