Last Friday saw 17 of our alumnae community visit school to speak to Year 10 to Upper Sixth girls about the many and varied careers paths they have followed after leaving St George’s. Girls learned about a wide variety of industries, including finance, influencer marketing, teaching, law, entrepreneurship, the charity sector, engineering, the civil service, and events management, demonstrating that the world really is their oyster. Speakers had taken varied routes to reach their current positions, with some heading to University, and others completing apprenticeships and work experience to make their first steps on the career ladder, illustrating that different options are available to best suit the individual.

Some speakers left school within the last five years, and so were not only familiar faces to the girls attending, but were able to advise on immediate plans that current girls might be considering. Other speakers were very well established in their careers, and described the sometimes unconventional routes that had led to their current success.  Hearing about careers that may not have been previously considered, and from people who had also passed through St George’s corridors is so valuable to current pupils, and we hope the alumnae enjoyed sharing their expertise, and a trip down memory lane in coming back to school.
