Since leaving St George’s, Ascot with three A levels under her belt (Art, Psychology and Photography), Abi has explored a number of opportunities before settling at the Young V&A (formerly the Museum of Childhood) in Bethnal Green in London’s East End.
Her passion for photography initially led her to accept a place at the University of Arts to study for a BA in Photography. However, with the world in coronavirus lockdown the university experience was markedly different from what Abi was expecting, and she made the decision to leave.
A short-term, live-in role at an independent day and boarding school followed, after which she undertook a marketing apprenticeship with Multiverse. The apprenticeship gave Abi the foundational skills needed to secure roles in the social media teams at two London-based communications agencies. These were EssenceMediaCom UK, which is part of WPP, the world’s largest communications group, and The Goat Agency, an award-winning social influencer agency.
After three years in marketing-led roles, Abi sought a new role that supports her interest in the world of the arts. She joined the Young V&A in a front of house role in 2024, and is now the museum’s Operations and Communications Manager, a varied position that includes events, governance, office management as well as gallery and building maintenance. She enjoys going into the office every day, working with people in a creative environment.
