With three A Levels in Maths, Geography and Drama under her belt, Sophie left St George’s Ascot in 2005 to study Geography and Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE). A successful career in sales (interest rates) and trading (commodities) followed roles at Citigroup and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Her career took a completely different direction when, in 2012, she took the plunge and started her own business far away from the world of finance. Sophie Gass, a fashion, flowers and nail boutique was founded situated in the heart of Holland Park, London. After ten successful years, Sophie sold the business to TownHouse, a specialist nail boutique which continues her legacy of delivering a bespoke nail care journey to its clients.

Two important skills she learned from St George's are organising people and speaking with confidence. Of the former she says that gathering groups of people and getting them to work well together was a skill she learnt from a young age at St George’s, where she spent hours doing dance routines, songs, speeches, charity events and more. The ability to speak confidently in front of a group of people, no matter the size, is an invaluable skill regardless of the industry you are in.

Sophie continues to live in London with her family.
