Eleanor Wright, Law, St George's Ascot Alumnae

Eleanor read Law at Bristol University before following in her father’s footsteps to join the legal profession. Early in her career she worked in general litigation as was most usual at the time, before moving into the more specialist area of negligence law.

She had a general interest in education law, being a governor at her children’s school, and began to specialise in that field after being referred a particularly interesting case. Education law supports the rights and responsibilities of parents, children and schools, ensuring a suitable education for all. A key focus of her work is special educational needs (SEN) provision. She is currently Legal Officer at SOS!ENN, a charitable organisation that supports young people and their families to secure the special educational needs provision they are legally entitled to, and very much enjoys her work.

Eleanor feels she was fortunate at St George's to encounter some inspirational teachers (Miss Asher and Miss Gazdzik, among others) who encouraged a love of learning, but also helped develop other values and skills, including acting, debating, and a strong motivation to champion the underdog. These have underpinned her career throughout.
