Rachel is an experienced UK and US producer working across a wide range of television formats including factual entertainment, reality, talent-led documentaries and true crime.
After achieving three A grade A levels in Politics, History and Theatre Studies and an A grade in AS Level Film Studies, Rachel attended Manchester University where she studied Politics and Modern History. Whilst there, she attended a live recording of University Challenge. This sparked her ambition to work in TV by bringing together her three loves of television, entertainment, and people.
Rachel’s interest in TV production came from three main influences: her love of television and a strong interest in how programmes are made; her attendance at a full-time theatre school prior to St George’s which brought the entertainment world front and centre; and her love of people and storytelling.
With no contacts in the industry, Rachel worked hard to get a foothold, contacting numerous production companies seeking work experience and she gradually found her way in. She started out doing office tasks and making tea, and now sixteen years later, she is still making tea but just with more responsibility.
Her career has taken her all over the world from Mongolia, Bhutan, the USA and Papua New Guinea. She has worked on BAFTA winning series, and met fascinating people along the way. Her diverse array of programmes include Race Across the World (BBC One), and Pole to Pole with Will Smith (Disney+), Gogglebox (Channel 4), Murder In The Heartland (US - DiscoveryID)
She says that St George’s gave her the gift of confidence. It taught her to be open-minded and to seize moments and experiences wherever possible, thanks to the amazing opportunities the school offers. When she started at St George’s, she simply wanted to achieve good A levels, having come from a full-time theatre school. By the time she left, however, she had been part of the Head Girls Team, Head of D House, performed in school plays, achieved Grade 8 in singing and LAMDA, and taken part in some amazing school trips.
