Military and FCDO Families

St George’s Ascot is proud to support families serving in HM Armed Forces and the diplomatic community.

We recognise that military life can involve frequent postings, deployments and periods of separation. Our boarding community provides stability, continuity and reassurance, ensuring every girl feels supported and able to thrive academically and personally wherever her family may be based.

We appreciate that geography and logistics contribute significantly to any family’s decision about a school. St George’s is located within a 30 acre, semi-rural site in Ascot, Berkshire, a short drive from Ascot train station (with direct links into London Waterloo), 30 minutes drive from Aldershot Super Garrison and only 20 minutes from Heathrow airport, St George’s is a school with excellent transport links for military families situated around the UK and further afield.

Our Bursar is a former senior officer in the Armed Forces, bringing valuable experience and understanding of the unique circumstances faced by service families, including the operation of the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA).

Families eligible for the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA) can use this support towards boarding fees at St George’s Ascot. Our Admissions and Finance teams are experienced in guiding families through the CEA process and are happy to discuss individual circumstances in confidence.

Forces families who are currently serving in HM Armed Forces receive a 25% remission on day school fees and on boarding fees.

Our FCDO families are able to apply the 25% discount to full boarding fees only.

A Message from the Bursar

Having served myself, I understand the importance of stability and clarity for our Armed Forces families. Our role is to make the school experience straightforward, supportive and reassuring at every stage.

James Anderson, Bursar

I understand the realities of service life with the uncertainty at times, the movement, and the importance of finding the right school for your child.

At St George’s Ascot, my role is to ensure that families feel fully supported and well informed, particularly when navigating the Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA). We aim to make the process clear and straightforward, with open and honest guidance at every stage.

I work closely with families and our Admissions team to provide:

  • Support with CEA and provide clear advice on eligibility for our fee remissions
  • Transparent understanding of parental charges
  • Support tailored to individual circumstances

Our aim is to remove any uncertainty, so families can make confident decisions. I know how important it is for parents to feel reassured, particularly when they may be serving outside the UK. At St George’s Ascot, girls are part of a close and supportive boarding community where they are known as individuals and given the confidence to thrive.
